Improvisation dans le jardin avec une fin août qui annonce déjà l’automne…
En ce dimanche matin, permettez-moi de vous offrir cette petite improvisation au handpan qui, j’espère, pourra éloigner quelques uns et quelques instants de ces préoccupations dites « inédites », tant nos quotidiens ont changé depuis un an et demi. En tout cas, ce petit rayon de soleil qui s’invite à la table de l’inspiration a réchauffé mes mains et j’espère qu’il réchauffera vos cœurs…
Une improvisation au bord de l’Erdre…en plein été…
« Awid Aman » veut dire « apporte de l’eau ». Un phrase que j’entendais très souvent quand j’étais petit en pays berbère, quand un voyageur assoiffé venait visiter la famille. C’était la toute première marque d’hospitalité.
Parce qu’on me l’a demandé maintes fois, voici la version française et en acoustique de « Awid Aman ». Je vous précise tout dans l’introduction de la vidéo.

« Awid Aman » , une phrase que Chan entendait souvent pendant son enfance. Elle résonnait encore en lui, quand il apportait cette eau fraîche aux voyageurs assoiffés qui venaient visiter la famille. En pays berbère, cette phrase signifie «apporte de l’eau».
Abreuver son corps comme on abreuve son âme. Ce titre est un hymne à l’hospitalité, à cette enfance qui nous construit et à certaines valeurs perdues. Loin de la nostalgie, Chan nous invite à une ballade introspective, au fredonnement de la vie… à la source commune, dans le prolongement du titre « Awid Aman » original.

« Thé sur le Nil » est l’incarnation, pour moi, d’une Égypte fantasmée depuis l’enfance. Une Égypte loin de son passé pharaonique, loin d’un delta qui a vu l’Homme se sédentariser certes, mais plutôt une Égypte évocatrice de doux souvenirs de l’âge d’or du cinéma égyptien et de ses étoiles chantantes. J’ai essayé de traduire tout ceci dans ce morceau et dans ce clip. Un peu de calme et de relaxation dans ce monde incertain….
« Tea on the Nile » is the embodiment, for me, of an Egypt fantasized since childhood. An Egypt far from its pharaonic past, far from a delta which has seen man to settle down certainly, but rather an Egypt evoking sweet memories of the golden age of Egyptian cinema and its singing stars. I tried to translate all of this in this track and in this clip. A little calm and relaxation in this uncertain world ….

Très heureux de vous présenter ce second extrait de l’album « Awid Aman ». J’ai été entourée d’une équipe formidable pour réaliser ce clip et je les remercie très chaleureusement. Ce coté épure et monochrome appuie d’une façon très subtile le propos de la chanson, qui parle de nos racines communes à travers ma propre expérience. Oui nos racines communes, nos nostalgies, nos interrogations sur les chemins parcourus et à venir, bref, une introspection commune à chacun d’entre nous.

Ma première rencontre avec Baudelaire s’est faite sur les bancs de l’école. Il se trouve que « les fleurs du mal » est devenu un de mes livres de chevet. Sur cette improvisation, je réalise à nouveau tout le génie de ce grand poète. Dire simplement ses textes peut transformer entièrement un morceau. La poésie, un art au services d’autres arts…
My first meeting with Baudelaire was on the school benches. It turns out that « the flowers of evil » has become one of my bedside books. On this improvisation, I realize again the genius of this great poet. Simply saying his texts can completely transform a piece. Poetry, an art at the service of other arts …
Hang et violoncelle
La rencontre entre violoncelle et handpan a toujours été pour moi évidente. C’est la raison pour laquelle j’ai demandé à la talentueuse Suzanne Fischer de poser quelques mélodies sur une de mes chansons. Son bel instrument a, désormais, laissé quelques traces sonores. Et ce fut un véritable ravissement!
🇬🇧 The encounter between cello and handpan has always been obvious to me. That’s why I asked the talented Suzanne Fischer to put some melodies on one of my songs. His beautiful instrument has now left some sound tracks. And it was a real delight!
U2 - with or without you
🇫🇷 J’imagine que nous sommes tous sensibles à la voix, à son timbre, à sa mélodie. Quand il s’agit de le voix de Bono du groupe U2, on ne peut qu’être transporté, soulevé. Loin de vouloir me comparer à lui, mais en tout cas, il m’a inspiré cette adaptation, plutôt épurée, qui j’espère vous plaira. Bonne écoute.

[Fr] Adolescent, j’ai adoré l’OVNI que fut le groupe The Police. C’est à cette période que j’ai découvert le titre « Shadows in the rain ». Chanson courte, efficace et mystérieuse. Sting l’a reprise plus tard lors de sa carrière solo sous d’autres formes. Aujourd’hui j’ai le plaisir de la partager avec vous dans une version très personnelle. J’espère que vous aurez autant de plaisir à l’écouter (ou la voir) que j’ai eu à l’enregistrer…
